Activities |
Watershed management programme has been given a tremendous thrust in the 10th Five Year Plan to treat the degraded lands in the country with a view to enhance agriculture production and to ensure eco-development. Soil and land information is thus essential for scientific planning and implementation of watershed development programmes at micro level. Soil and Land Use Survey of India, an apex organization in the country is dedicated in providing scientific soil and land resource database to the user departments since 1958.
Voluminous map and statistical information on soil and land resources have been generated by the organization through various kinds and intensities of soil survey, which are meant for watershed management programmes in the country. |
